About Margo Guryan
Margo Guryan grew up in the suburbs of New York City and took piano lessons from the age of six. At Boston University she fell in love with jazz and in her junior year switched her major from piano to composition. She was primarily a jazz songwriter; her first recorded song was "Moon Ride", performed by Chris Connor on Atlantic Records. One day a friend, the jazz pianist and composer Dave Frishberg, urged her to listen to the song "God Only Knows" from the album Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. Margo loved it and was moved to try her hand at writing in this vein. Subsequently, her songs were recorded by Spanky And Our Gang, Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell, Cass Elliot and Jackie DeShannon, among others, plus famously unreleased recordings by Harry Nilsson and Dion.

In 1968, Bell Records released her album Take A Picture, full of rock and jazz-tinged pop melodies. Due to Guryan's refusal to perform, the album was under-promoted and failed to make an impact. Guryan continued to write, produce other artists (with her husband, David Rosner) and once again studied classical piano, eventually becoming a teacher.

Take A Picture was reissued in 2000 in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. A collection of demos entitled 25 Demos has also been made available. This was followed in 2009 by a box-set retrospective released South Korea. A video was produced for Margo's song "16 Words" which generated many `hits' and comments on YouTube plus a 2007 enhanced-CD release in the U.K. on Pure Mint Records. In the late '90s "The Chopsticks Variations", a piano composition, was published, and a recording was made available in 2009 on Oglio Records.

Ron Flynt’s New Single Receives Praise From Dwight Twilley

Flynt-Tell Me Whats Wrong M

Check out this great quote from the legendary Dwight Twilley about the new Oglio single from Ron Flynt:

In the unstable universe of American Pop Rock n' Roll Sound there are still some constants. Such is the case with Austin based musical icon Ron Flynt. There's nothing wrong with his ability to craft a smart tight 2 minute 38 second diamond. Flynt proves this with the focused authority of his new Oglio single release "Tell Me What's Wrong." Just try to play it once. B/W "Hold On To Your Heart" the clever, hard driving Beatles in Motown anthem. The song begs the question, who chose the A side? Add this release to your Solar System ASAP! Ray Manzarek, keyboardist and founding member of The Doors, passed away today at 12:31PM PT at the RoMed Clinic in Rosenheim, Germany after a lengthy battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife Dorothy Manzarek, and his brothers Rick and James Manczarek.

Manzarek is best known for his work with The Doors who formed in 1965 when Manzarek had a chance encounter on Venice Beach with poet Jim Morrison. The Doors went on to become one of the most controversial rock acts of the 1960s, selling more than 100-million albums worldwide, and receiving 19 Gold, 14 Platinum and five multi-Platinum albums in the U.S. alone. "L.A.Woman," "Break On Through to the Other Side," "The End," "Hello, I Love You," and "Light My Fire" were just some of the band's iconic and ground-breaking songs. After Morrison's death in 1971, Manzarek went on to become a best-selling author, and a Grammy-nominated recording artist in his own right. In 2002, he revitalized his touring career with Doors' guitarist and long-time collaborator, Robby Krieger.

"I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek today," said Krieger. "I'm just glad to have been able to have played Doors songs with him for the last decade. Ray was a huge part of my life and I will always miss him."

Manzarek is survived by his wife Dorothy, brothers Rick and James Manczarek, son Pablo Manzarek, Pablo's wife Sharmin and their three children Noah, Apollo and Camille. Funeral arrangements are pending. The family asks that their privacy be respected at this difficult time. Craig Gass “The Worst Comedy Show Ever” – In Stores April 16, 2013

Craig Gass Worst CD Mini-s

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COMEDIAN & ACTOR CRAIG GASS TO DEBUT WITH LIVE
COMEDY ALBUM & DVD ON APRIL 16, 2013

Features Cameo’s by Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell & Sean Kinney

(Los Angeles, CA) The outrageously funny Comedian/Actor and all-around “impressionist”, CRAIG GASS, announces the release of his debut live comedy album and DVD, The Worst Comedy Show Ever, on April 16, 2013 through Oglio Records. The release will coincide with GASS’ North American tour (dates TBA).

Filmed last summer at Dave’s of Milton Lounge and Comedy Club, a burned out but beloved hole-in-the-wall located (well) outside of Seattle, Washington, where scores of stand-up comics have gone for decades to test their material on the easily amused, and endlessly-forgiving, blue collar patrons. Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, has a hilarious cameo on the DVD, and Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney, lend their fractured personalities to several news blackouts on the CD, hearkening back George Carlin’s post-‘60s hippy-dippy weatherman.

“The material on the DVD/CD was meticulously developed, night after night, in the near-empty rooms of shit-hole bars and comedy dives,” confesses GASS. “Now, it’s been turned into my dream come true! I am proud, ecstatic and terrified – but it’s a good kind of terror.”

The USO are also big fans of GASS and have asked the comedian to perform at a few select overseas bases of our Armed Forces. Craig will begin his tour in the Azores Islands of Portugal on March 11th before winding up on March 16th at the NATO Base in Madrid, Spain. He will make an appearance at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto, Canada as he makes his way home to the U.S. Adding to his increasingly busy schedule, GASS will be making his Comedy Central debut on the upcoming season of the hit animated series, Brickleberry.

The pathway to impressions and stand-up comedy appears to be GASS’ destiny from the very beginning. Growing up in a family that was completely deaf, GASS learned to speak from watching TV. In 1993 GASS began performing stand-up comedy. His dead-on impressions caught the attention of two icons of the entertainment community, Howard Stern and George Carlin. Carlin soon took GASS under his wing, became his mentor, and acting roles materialized with regularity. In addition, GASS became a writer for Colin Quinn on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update”. GASS perfected his style with memorable characters on such TV shows as Sex and the City, King of Queens, Law & Order and Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels, and most recently has been doing voice over work on the shows Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show. As the industry continued to embrace his comedic style, GASS’ love for all things hard rock, led to his being honored with exclusive requests to open for Metallica, Alice in Chains and KISS.

As a regular guest on The Howard Stern show, GASS provides countless, riveting stories from the road, his endless encounters with Hollywood elite and life at its most basic reality. His seamless impressions of Al Pacino, Lars Ulrich, Sam Kinison, Adam Sandler, Tracy Morgan, Gene Simmons, Gilbert Gottfried, Christopher Walken, Owen Wilson and dozens more, accompanied by his machine gun-style delivery and fall-down-laughing storytelling, have already captivated audiences around the world.

Beatallica “Abbey Load” In Stores April 16th 2013

Beatallica Abbey Load Cover Mini RGB 500

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MASH-UP MASTERS BEATALLICA READY NEW RELEASE, 'ABBEY LOAD'

You've got to tip your hat to the lads in Beatallica. Few would have thought to merge together two of the most successful acts of their respective genres - pop tunesmiths the Beatles and thrash metal bashers Metallica - and create a must-hear, creative blend of both iconic artists. And the band that contains such wittily named band members as Jaymz Lennfield, Kliff McBurtney, Ringo Larz, and Grg III are back with their third full-length overall, 'Abbey Load,' on April 16th via Oglio Records (a label that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year).

"Overall the album is our darkest," explains Lennfield. "Not sure why it turned out that way, to be honest. We didn't realize it til we got to listening to the first mixes. It sounds brooding in places. Not like we tuned down any more or played any stoner rock or anything. But the overall vibe is deeper than other projects we've done. Maybe it's cuz the Beatles Abbey Road was the last release for them - like the end of an era. And we were placing our fingers on that. After a while, I got to embrace that whole vibe. Beatallica is always fun and interesting, and yes there are 'candy' songs on the album such as 'Help!' and 'I Saw Her Standing There'... but there is something more foreboding about Abbey Load than what we initially thought."

Once more, Beatallica have successfully found links between both aforementioned bands, most notably on the album's tour de force, "Abbey Load Medley." "The medley...well, it's obviously one of the great famous pieces of rock music," says Lennfield. "We really enjoyed working in NEWER Metallica tunes. Folks always ask us how much old stuff from Metallica we can use. Helloooo...they have a LARGE catalog, so use it!. Those tunes work great, plus the fact that we are doing what we always do: deal with tempo, time signature, rhythm patterns, keys from major to minor, adding our own riffs, etc., but now we have to make all the songs in the medley sound like they fit. Not just one song at a time, but now five songs, bang-bang-bang.. The challenge was irresistible."

As for Beatallica's plans for 2013, Lennfield predicts some good, old-fashioned global roadwork. "Well, we'd like to finally hit Japan. It's just way overdue. We have US folks asking for us to come back so we'll see how to best route. As far as Europe, they are starting to consider the fall sometime."

"Beatallica is so much more than a novelty cover band," adds Oglio Records founder Carl Caprioglio. "Beatallica's members and producer are among the most creative and talented people I have encountered in my years with Oglio Records. Their ability to blend influences from these two legendary bands is as amazing and impressive today as it was when we met in 2006."

Imagine what the Beatles' 'Abbey Road' would have sounded like if it had been originally released by Metallica, and you have a good starting point for 'Abbey Load.'

Andy Dick Joins The Cast Of Dancing With The Stars

Congratulations to Andy Dick for being featured on the hit ABC show, Dancing With The Stars. Oglio Comedy released Andy's 2006 comedy album "Do Your Shows Always Suck?" which featured an unknown (at the time) singer/songwriter Mark Foster. Well, Mark went on to establish the highly successful band Foster The People and gain international success.

This song "Ballad of Andy" about Andy Dick is written and performed by the great Mark Foster from the band Foster The People. Read the lyrics as the video plays. It is a terrific song.

Andy did not I fare too well as a young boy in Roswell
well, Georgia was no good for his tender soul
then he went to Chicago, and off to Hollywood he goes
well, Hollywood's a hard road to ride alone
and now you turn on the TV
and you see him now he's laughing
and you think it's make believe
but he's more real than what you see on TV
well the Stiller Show you may know it
got him on News Radio and it turned out to be a hit show
well all the success got to his head
it's hard to live life when all your best friends are dead
and all the weight of the world just crashes in
and now you turn on the TV
and you see him now he's laughing
and you think it's make believe
but he's more real that what you see
and now you turn on the TV
and now you see him while he's yelling
and you think it's make believe
but he's more real that what you see on TV
Andy danced with the devil
and all of his candy the drugs got a real tight gripp on Andy
we went to jail did not pass go, he broke his bones
and broke his nose, and he broke his funny bone, yeah
and now you turn on the TV
and you see him now he's crying
and you think its make believe
but he's more real that what you see
and now you turn on the TV
and now you see him while he's dying
and you think its make believe
but he's more real that what you see on TV
yeah, he's more real than what you see on TV
yeah, he's more real than what you see on TV
on TV........
