Linus Of Hollywood – Let Yourself Be Happy

LET YOURSELF BE HAPPY

"Let Yourself Be Happy" is the much anticipated follow-up to Linus of Hollywood's debut CD "Your Favorite Record" which attracted international attention and critical acclaim. Full of magical melodies, dense harmonies, and intricated arrangements, this new CD contains 11 tracks of 60's influenced pop including 2 somewhat unusual (for this genre) cover songs: Ozzy Osbourne's "Goodbye To Romance" and the influential punk band Smoking Popes "Need You Around" both done in Linus' unique colorful style.

Tracks:

  1. Building A Ship
  2. Goodbye To Romance
  3. To Be A Girl
  4. A Whole New Country
  5. Why Don't We...
  6. The Girl I'll Never Have
  7. Where Are You?
  8. Thank You For Making Me Feel...Better
  9. Need You Around
  10. Every Day I Fall In Love Again
  11. I've Lost My Mind

Excerpt from AllMusic.com review by Stanton Swihart

He is without a doubt an artist of nearly unrivaled (Brian Wilson might have something to say about that) and unabashed romantic yearning, which is nowhere more evident than on an almost unrecognizable cover of Ozzy Osborne's "Goodbye to Romance." This time around Linus traded in some of the overt '60s sunshine pop predilections for '70s soft rock ones. The crisp sheen of the era's AM radio pop hovers over the album like L.A. smog. "I've Lost My Mind" breaks into a full-bloom Fleetwood Mac chorus that would probably fool even the members of the band into believing that they had recorded the song back in their hazy Laurel Canyon days...

Beatallica – Masterful Mystery Tour Lyrics

Beatallica-MasterfulMystery_3Ds1

1) The Battery Of Jamyz And Yoko (4:32)
Buy Single: iTunes or Amazon
YouTube: Watch Video

In Denmark we are lashing out action
Returning the reaction in France
Back across Germany, battery here to stay
Then raising Hell in the Netherlands

You know that it’s easy, you know how hard we can be
The way things are going, can’t kill the battery….battery!

In Paris we took over the Hilton
Ripped and tore away at the weak
The newspaper said,
“The blood’s running red"
We’re only trying to get us some peace!

You know that it’s easy, you know how hard we can be
The way things are going, can’t kill the battery….battery!

We’re whipping up a fury nearly every day
Dominating flurry our goal
Smashing boundaries we said, “Lunacy til we’re dead!
And you don’t have a hope for your soul!”…..GO!

Fought the non-believers in London
The ones that said that we wouldn’t last
They say that we’re crass, that we got no class
To them I say, “Yoko up your ass!”
You know that it’s easy, you know how hard we can be
The way things are going, can’t kill the battery….battery!

2) Masterful Mystery Tour (3:27)
Buy Single: iTunes or Amazon
YouTube: Watch Video

Blow up! Blow up for the mystery tour…

The source of self-destruction
Lead on your death’s construction

The masterful mystery tour is waiting to pull all your strings
Twist your mind and smash all your dreams
Master… Master

You know more is all you need
Just taste me and you’ll see

The masterful mystery tour blinds you and you can’t see a thing
Call my name and I’ll hear you scream
Master… Master

A rhyme without a reason
Your mind is out of season

The masterful mystery tour is hoping to make you obey
Hoping your life burns away
The masterful mystery tour is dying to make you obey
Dying to take you away
Master Obey!

3) Fuel On The Hill (3:54)
Buy Single: iTunes or Amazon
YouTube: Watch Video

He’s the fuel on the hill
See him coming for the kill!

Day after day, prone on a hill
A man like a nitro junkie is drinking straight from a still
Nobody wants to slow him, they can see he needs his fuel
He’s a Beatallibanger

He drinks fuel on the hill,
Til the sun is going, til the sun is going down
See is eyes are seeing red,
and the world spinning ‘round

He’s the fuel on the hill
See him coming for the kill!

Hard, loose, and clean, head in cloud
Quenching his thirst with metal screaming perfectly loud
No one else wants to hear it, Beatle black or Metalli-white
F*** ‘em man, white knuckle tight

Yeayeayeahoohyeah

He drinks fuel on the hill,
Til the sun is going, til the sun is going down
See is eyes are seeing red,
and the world spinning ‘round

He’s the fuel on the hill
See him coming for the kill!
Ooh yeah!

The fuel is pumping engines, You can tell what he wants to do
Your face on the chrome is burning
He never listens to them, He knows they’re the fools
On he burns and they don’t like him

He drinks fuel on the hill,
Til the sun is going, til the sun is going down
See is eyes are seeing red,
and the world spinning ‘round

He’s the fuel on the hill
See him coming for the kill!
Ooh yeah!

On he burns...!

4) And I'm Evil (2:43)
Buy Single: iTunes or Amazon
YouTube: Watch Video

My mother was a witch, burned alive—ooooh!
And if she ain’t my bitch, you’d cry tears too
I’m evil…..

Now of revenge I sing, most evilly
The shit on you I’ll bring, most metally
and I’m evil….

Vengeance like mine, could never die
As long as my metal’s in me
alright!

Black is my Misfits shirt, I’ve 20 Eyes
Misfit shirt full of dirt says “Darling Die”, die die die
I’m evil….

Vengeance like mine, could never die
As long as my metal’s in me
it's in me, yeah, and you!

Black is my Misfits shirt, I’ve 20 Eyes
Misfit shirt full of f**** dirt says “Darling Die”, die die die
I’m evil….

And I’m evil—yes, I am
And I’m evil—I am man
And I'm evil, yes I f*****' am
Die Die Die Die Die Die Die Die Die

5) Everybody's Got A Ticket To Ride Except Me And My Lightning (4:46)
Buy Single: iTunes or Amazon
YouTube: Watch Video

Alright C’mon, c’mon…..c’mon, c’mon
C’mon it’s such a joy, c’mon you metal boy
C’mon and take it easy, c’mon and make it sleazy
Take it easy, make it sleazy
Everybody's got a ticket to ride except for me and my lightning

Your insides ooze out, the electrodes are in
Electrodes are in so your eyeballs pop out
Someone’s controlling me, can’t be happening to me
C’mon and make it easy, c’mon and make it sleazy
Take it easy, make it f***** sleazy
Everybody's got a ticket to ride except for me and lightning

Sweat chilling cold, I watch death unfold
How true is this?  Get it over with, So c’mon….c’mon
C’mon and make it easy, c’mon and make it sleazy
Take it easy, make it sleazy
Everybody's got a ticket to ride except for me and my lightning

C'mon....
I think I’m gonna be dead, I think it’s today, yeah
Electric wires into my head, I’m frying away
I’ve got a ticket to ride, I’ve got a ticket to ride
I've got a ticket to ride the lightning, yeah

Death is in the air, it’s bringing me down
Strapped in the electric chair, death is all around
I’ve got a ticket to ride, I’ve got a ticket to ride
I've got a ticket to ride the lightning, yeah

Before I get to riding so high, so high
Someone help me, oh please God help me
Flashing before my eyes
Someone help me, oh please God help me

Wakened by horrid scream, burning in my brain
Freed from this frightening dream, I feel the flame
I’ve got a ticket to ride, I’ve got a ticket to ride
I've got a ticket to ride the lightning, yeah

Before I get to riding so high, so high
Someone help me, oh please God help me
Flashing before my eyes
Someone help me, oh please God help me

Wakened by horrid scream, burning in my brain, ooh
Freed from this frightening dream, I feel the flame
I’ve got a ticket to ride, I’ve got a ticket to ride
I've got a ticket to ride the lightning, yeah

the lightning, yeah
ride!

6) Running For Your Life (3:33)
Buy Single: iTunes or Amazon
YouTube: Watch Video

Rather see you dead little girl than see you with another
I’ll grind up your bones, you know I’m gonna lose it
Better keep your head little girl, are you a bird
Or a ghost?  Say what you what you wanna be?

Running for your life if you can, little girl
Smash you with a Breadfan little girl
Catch you with an emo band, that’s the end, little girl

Loser, you know I’m a wicked guy with a metal mind
Baby I’m determined that I’d rather see you dead
C’mon I can’t spend my whole life with a Cold Play record
Gotta gotta stop!  Gonna turn into a bad boy

Runnig for your life if you can, little girl
Smash you with a Breadfan little girl
Catch you with an emo band, that’s the end, little girl

Rather see you dead little girl than see you with another
I’ll grind up your bones, you know you make me lose it
Better keep your head little girl, you were a bird
Now a ghost.  Say what you  what you wanna be?

Running for your life if you can, little girl
Smash you with a Breadfan little girl
Catch you with an emo band, that's the end, little girl

Margo Guryan – The Chopsticks Variations

Buy Now!
I never thought that anyone could do anything with “Chopsticks”, but Margo Guryan has   done it remarkably in a charming set of variations on the famous tune: clever, witty, at times tender and elegant, at other times punning and ribald. Every variation has some delightfully surprising touch. A little American “Mikrokosmas” – and much more fun! - Gunther Schuller (Pulitzer Prize Winner, Down Beat Lifetime Achievement Award, Columbia University’s William Schuman Award for lifetime achievement in American music composition and the MacArthur Foundation ‘genius’ award).

Margo Guryan - "Take A Picture"

Margo Guryan's 1968 album "Take a Picture" completely remastered with 3 previously unreleased bonus tracks. Beautiful digipak with 12-page full color booklet which includes lyrics and biographical info, as well as liner notes from current artists and journalists.

Excerpt from AllMusic.com review by Stanton Swihart

Routinely selling for huge sums of money on the vinyl market and making its way into the collections of pop fanatics as far afield as Japan, Take a Picture has taken on a dynamic life of its own since its 1968 release, especially for an album that went relatively unheard at the time. It is not difficult to figure out what all the retroactive acclaim is about once you hear the sweet, delicate strain of gently kaleidoscopic music on the sole album from Margo Guryan. It is the soft pop of which gauzy dreams are made, full of the hazy changes and transitory variations of autumn, an album that you invariably want to wrap up in.

Where Ya Been Lars?

lyrics by MC Lars
music by the Keyboard Choir, the Rondo Brothers and Walt Ribiero

Where ya been Lars?
Where ya been?
Where ya been Lars?
Where ya been?

I've been touring everywhere just to bring this world joy
On a three year long mission just to merch & destroy
I've been to Sydney, been to Dublin, been to Tokyo and back
Still rocking Capcom hoodies and that dirty A's cap
I'm still repping Northern Cali, hella non-conformist
I toured with Gym Class Heroes and then they got ginormous
I've drawn a lot of comics and I've rocked a lot of shows
I saw nerdcore come and I saw nerdcore go
I did a track with mc chris, though I kind of wish I'd knew
He'd be like "I want three grand for that verse or I'll sue" (true)
I opened for T-Pain he had zero production
He made my drummer move his drums, gave his stage manager instructions (move your drums)
I DJ-ed Johnny Phillips wedding, Gerard Way was there
I'm like "We have the same booking agent", he's like "ask me if I care?"
I met Weird Al,

I met Flava Flav
I met DMC but the photo wouldn't save
I'm like "Camera phones suck," he's like "I know they're really 5tricky"

He didn't actually say that, but if he had,

it would have been good for comedy purposes.

CP's y'all!  CP's.  Alright.

True Player For Real

lyrics by MC Lars
music by MC Lars, Brendan Brown and Phil Jimenez

Since I was 3 I had ADHD,
got in trouble constantly, said, "Just gotta be me!"
Nineteen years later I've got this piece of paper
It says "congrats, you're broke English major"
I still live with mom and dad and it's kind of sad
when this Stanford grad brings ladies to his pad,
"What up girl?"
"Aren't you that rapper with that song about Hot Topic?"
Maybe Bukowski was right about women? "ha ha, stop it!"
This is an old-school jam, I'm dropping knowledge like Plato
while most rappers track it backwards and stay flat like Play Dough
but I'm a Minor Threat, I flip scripts so they know
You can't taze me bro ("Don't taze me bro!")
Not to conceal, keep it surreal,
piss off the British press when I'm like, "Who's John Peel?"
The NME says, "Lars is well rubbish,
his single is bollocks," but I know that they love this!

I'm MC Lars (true player for real!)
TPFR (true player for real)
It's my self-referential introduction song
TPFR (true player for real)
I'm MC Lars (true player for real!)
TPFR (true player for real!)
The name's MC Lars now you know the deal
(true player for real)

Once upon a time Grandmaster Flash
inspired these nerds with a culture clash
Once Run-DMC mixed rock guitars
with the kick, snare, kick, kick, snare
Public Enemy took a political stand,
now we pirate these records like damn the man
NWA got attacked by the media,
now we check the facts up on Wikipedia
Can't get on the stage at the Jay-Z show
so we boot up ProTools and bust a funky flow
Online for free we don't make dough,
okay just thought I'd let you know
And I can give you 27 reasons why
Nerdcore rhymes are just as fly
As anything born from mainstream rap,
Till my laptop dies... and I'll take that back

I'm MC Lars (true player for real!)
TPFR (true player for real)
Still my self-referential introduction song
TPFR (true player for real)
I'm MC Lars (true player for real!)
TPFR (true player for real!)
The name's MC Lars now you know the deal
(true player for real)

Like Ralph Waldo Emerson, I stay "Self Reliant"
Genre-defiant, all ages shows with Kobe Bryant
I just checked billboard, my album's in the charts
I think therefore I soundscan, right Descartes?
But am I a culture thief making hip-hop sound white?
Haven't got the right like Lancelot the knight?
No, Camelot's a myth, and Guinevere's a slut
So I'll jump into this mosh pit, pants sagging like "What!"

... key change

I'm MC Lars (true player for real!)
TPFR (true player for real)
Still my self-referential introduction song
TPFR (true player for real)

I'm MC Lars (true player for real!)
TPFR (true player for real!)

(true player for real)

Outro:
I kill it on stage, with two DI's, why?
Post-punk laptop rap is the new DIY
(true player for real!)

I kill it on stage, with two DI's, why?
Post-punk laptop rap is the new DIY

Hipster Girl

lyrics by MC Lars
music by MC Lars, Mike Kennedy and Steve Connolly

Hipster girl: So check this. I just read the Pitchfork review

of the new Pavement reissue.
Stephen Malkumus is a genius,

but let's face itE he's no Conor Oberst. I'm just saying.
It's not 1994 anymore, duh.

Did I show you my new mini skirt/leggings combo?
You know what they say: ugly IS the new hot.

I met her in the thrift shop bumping indie hip-hop
Calculator wrist watch, Shins t-shirt and flip-flops
Queen of the hipster scene, straight out of Vice Magazine
Social outcast at 16 but now she lives her BoHo Dream
She came from Omaha to Williamsburg
She loved Karen O and she had heard
That Brooklyn was the hipster mecca
Packed her bags with her friend Rebecca
Said she had a thing for broke dudes in bands
Who lived by Union or by Grand
So we went down to the Bedford Bar
And bought a six dollar PBR

Hipster girl: Ezra. Go down Bedord, take a right on Metropolitan,

then a right on Union,
and then you're here. Just text me when you get here okay?

Hipster girl
Cool by the numbers and she rocks my world
Knows all the indie bands you've never heard
She's my hipster girl

She thinks uncool stuff is mad cool, indie culture's fad rule
But cool stuff is uncool, right? That's why Friday's Jewel night
She reads books no one has read, laughs at jokes no one has said
So ironic with her taste, her whole life is cut and paste
It's a metrosexual romance, she wears my shirts and I wear her pants
We play dodge ball, kid sports are cool
Watching Spank Rock and McCarren Park Pool
She's my trust fund baby bohemian, her vegan humus keeps her thin,
I love my L-Train girl it's true, she always goes down on the weekends too

Hipster girl: By the way, that pro-Bush shirt you're wearing

is making me really uncomfortable,
you may be wearing it ironically, but that doesn't give you

the license to be obnoxious

you look like a hardcore fascist redneck!

Hipster girl
Cool by the numbers and she rocks my world
Knows all the indie bands you've never heard
She's my hipster girl

Donnie Darko makes no sense!
Hipster girl: When did side-pony tails get cool again?
Your fixed-gear bike makes no sense!
Hipster girl: I've been trying to do that dirty-chic thing, you know?
Donnie Darko makes no sense!
Hipster girl: I am so BoHo right now
L train girls don't make sense (I don't get it, I don't get it)

Hipster girl
Cool by the numbers and she rocks my world
Knows all the indie bands you've never heard
She's my hipster girl

Hipster girl
She's got her latte and some spoken word
Ironic statements on her vintage shirts
She's my hipster girl

Hipster girl: I'll give it to you, Napoleon Dynamite was funny,

but "Vote for Pedro" t-shirts at
Wal-Mart? What are they thinking. Wal-Mart is evil.

Their health care is totally inadequate.
Didn't you see the screening of that Robert Greenwald movie

at Pete's Candy Store? It was so sad.
What is with all of these hipsters taking over Williamsburg?

It's Not Easy (Being Green)

lyrics by MC Lars
music by MC Lars, Mike Kennedy, Nick Rowe and Pierre Bouvier

Check out that noise in the background!

I'm mad green right now. It's a biodiesel generator!
I'm using it to run the computer studio for the recording of this album!
I got it with this gift certificate I won

at the Save the Sea Turtles Marathon Run dude!
Check it out! I wrote all of the lyrics on my arm

because trees are too important

to be used as paper you know what I'm saying?

Let's get sustainable!

I got a letter from Al Gore the other day
I opened and read it, it said we're in trouble
It said "Go Green!" What's that mean?
Bought a hybrid hummer to save gasoline
Went to Live Earth in my private jet
Just like Sting and Kanye West
Let's save the earth with area rock
(Pyrotechnics are very sustainable)

(I'm going green) Can't you see? I keep the AC above 63
(I'm going green) Hardcore like Slayer, here's 27 fliers on the ozone layer
(I'm going green) Because I care, use organic aerosols in my hair
(I'm going green) So my grandkids will remember,
when you couldn't buy ocean property in Denver

It's not easy being green (it's not easy)
Having to change that old routine (it's not easy)
The climate change could be extreme
It's not easy... it's not easy

Went to Sea World with a giant net
To save the whales but they got upset
Brought Shamu to the parking lot, didn't get far
Couldn't even fit one fin in my car
Recycling's great, but my roommate didn't smile
When I told him what I did to his old-school Beatles vinyl
Gotta separate plastics form the glass
Even though it's a pain the morning

(I'm going green) Aerosol cans are terrible so I
Spread the word with spray painted signs
(I'm going green) Love animals for real, you see me clubbing with baby seals
(I'm going green) Bought a Prius to save on gas
But I fly every weekend in first class
(I'm going green) So my grandkids will remember,
when it wasn't 500 degrees in December

It's not easy being green (it's not easy)
There Will be Blood for gasoline (it's not easy)
I drink your milkshake like that scene
It's not easy... it's not easy

It's not easy being green (it's not easy)
Santa Claus's sleigh will need jetskis (it's not easy)
The polar bears might need sunscreen
It's not easy... it's not easy

I bought size five Vans at the local mall
To make my carbon footprint half as small
I wrote this song to express how I felt
About climate change and glacial melt

You know the movie
The Day After Tomorrow?
That could happen dude

I even rap in haikus what!

Manhattan (could be under water)
LA (could be under water)
Vancouver (could be under water)
London (could be under water)
Detroit (could be under water)

It's not easy (it's not easy)
It's not easy (it's not easy)
It's not easy (it's not easy)
Woah, oh

It's not easy being green (it's not easy)

We'll scuba dive the Bronx and Queens
It's not easy... it's not easy

This Gigantic Robot Kills

lyrics by MC Lars
music by MC Lars, Joe Ragosta and Suburban Legends

Billy built a robot in his parents' garage
Because he had a list of problems that he needed to solve
He said I'm sick of the Hills, Laguna Beach is fake and whack
Let's party like it's '96 and bring the horn section back
Back before Gwen Stefani started rapping with Pharrel
Gas cost $1.15 and Goldfinger could sell
When reality TV wasn't scripted or contrived
The brass was fat and bumping and the beats were all played live
See Billy was obsessed with third wave ska
Less Than Jake, Real Big Fish, Less than Jake he'd seen them all
He longed for a time when Bill played the sax
On the white house lawn and kids wore shades and checkered slacks
So Billy sits back in the class and laughs
With a notepad on his lap as he plans his task
To make a giant robot, how's that
And bring the real Orange County back!

This gigantic robot kills
He's gonna come down the block he's going to fire at will
He's got a cannon on his shoulder and a laser in his hand
He's gonna win the day for Billy make the city understand

The robot was completed and it opened up its eyes
Weighing 700 pounds and standing 8 foot five
With his black coat, black shoes, black hat, set to attack
He headed to the hills to give those spoiled kids a smack!
Kristin Cavaliere got knocked flat as Billy bumped the Aquabats
He ripped out Mischa Barton's spine as he cranked Save Ferris and Sublime
He burned down Heidi Montag's home as he bumped the OC Supertones
He screamed while smashing L.C.'s head, "SKA IS NOT DEAD!"

This gigantic robot kills
He's gonna come down the block he's going to fire at will
He's blasting bullets from his elbows, shooting missiles from his eyes
He's gonna win the day for Billy take the OC by surprise

He'll make you do the Macarena as you rock your Tamagachi
With his Newton down in Woodstock playing Sega la-di-da-di
He brought the 90's back and then he freed Tibet
If you can't find this jam on Napster then the Wherehouse sells casettes (old school)

Gigantic (he was)
Gigantic (this robot)
Gigantic (so very)
Gigantic (ska robot!!)

This gigantic robot kills
He's gonna come down the block he's going to fire at will
He's got a cannon on his shoulder and a laser in his hand
He's gonna win the day for Billy make the city understand

This gigantic robot kills
He's gonna come down the block he's going to fire at will
He's blasting bullets from his elbows, shooting missiles from his eyes
He's gonna win the day for Billy take the whole world by surprise

Robot: Ska is not dead.

lyrics by MC Lars and Jesse Dangerously
music by MC Lars, Fugazi, the Rondo Brothers, and K.Flay

Straight up - I'm an anarchist - politically extreme
You'll find me down at Kinkos printing anti-corporate Zines
My stencil graffiti is rebellious and defiant
Nothing says revolution like Andre the Giant

You know the science on the Mayans and twenty-twelve, with
Government thugs covering up, lizard people with many selves
Voting is collaborating, only thing I'm advocating
Is raising awareness of MY awareness and self-congratulating

Starbucks is the devil, Adbusters told me so
I wear my Che Guevera shirt to subvert the status quo
The government is lying to you and me
Bush knocked down the towers, literally

Yeah he strapped himself with C4 and piloted two planes
Like Bill Pullman in ID4, bootlegged as Loose Change
Who's sane when you claim he didn't plan it with Hussein?
They're one crew signed to different labels, like Wu-Tang

I've got Naomi Kelin on my mind (No Logo)
Read her whole book because she's fine (No Logo)
You'll find me down at Wal Mart with an anarchy sign
Because dude, it's a fricking anarchy sign! (No Logo)
I'm not racist, you're sensitive, geez (no logo)
Frankly, racism has poor brand identity (no logo)
I'm saying though, I don't see colour, we're all the same, bro
Like... one... big... rainbow (No homo! and stop)

Because Mom and Dad tried to hold me back (back)
Suburban America is not where it's at (at)
I bought a Noam Chomsky book with my Dad's credit card (irony)
Became an expert on world politics - it wasn't that hard

Now I haven't read Howard Zinn, but I'm sure he'd agree with me
That power's influence can be seen most egregiously
To corrupt, you supersuckers pay your taxes, follow all their
Laws... I'm taking down the system with my blog.

Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?
I climb overpasses, spray painted "Stop the pollution"
I'm always at the DMV shouting "anarchy"
Pay my taxes the last minute intentionally (what!)

And eventually, you conventional sheep will see that it's meant to be
That man's emancipation from lands and nations take place in this century
Naturally, very little will actually change politically
Except we'll all just do whatever we want... me, specifically.

Check my iPod and you'll see (No Logo)
I only download indie label CD's (No Logo)
Bought a Banksy print on eBay on Buy Nothing Day
Just to stick it the man ironically (No Logo)

Governments have outlived their usefulness (no logo)
You sheeple just aren't ready for my truthfulness (no logo)
It's my god-given right as an American to speak as I please
Love it or leave it, this is freedom at its gruesomest (no logo) or leave it, this is freedom at its gruesomest (No Logo)

It's the N-O-L to the O-G-O
The N-O-L to the O-G-O
The N-O-L to the O-G-O
The N-O-L to the O-G-O

Barack Hussein? Hillary Banks? Ed McCain?
Three sides of the same coin as far as I'm concerned!
If I can't smoke a doob on a airplane and talk to bitches however
I want, the REAL terrorists have already won! ... or DID they?

And stop! Yeah! And stop.

Stop exploiting independent musicians mainstream America.
This is a song for you. It's from the heart.
Get off our D's. And by that I mean the D batteries we have to buy to pay to fuel our studios.

Peace!

35 Laurel Drive

lyrics by MC Lars
music by MC Lars, Aesias Finale, the Rondo Brothers and Linus Dotson

John Thatcher Longley: Yo!
Lars: John.
JTL: What's up?
Lars: Yo, I'm going to put the song about your house on the album. Is that cool?
JTL: Uh... Yeah, I just don't want to have any, like, stalkers knowing my name, like my full name.
Do you think it's cool?
Lars: We'll keep it on the DL. We're going to spell it in the lyrics different than it is.
JTL: Alright, that's cool, yeah, whatever.

My drummer has the messiest house in New Jersey
My drummer has the messiest house in New Jersey

John Thatcher Longley - clean up your house
John Thatcher Longley - clean up your house
My drummer has the messiest house in New Jersey
My drummer has the messiest house in New Jersey

My drummer has a messy house
And that is what this song's about
As I write these rhymes I'm starting to doubt
This kid will ever take the garbage out
The living room is full of cans
The ping-pong table barely stands
I guess he's too busy with other demands
like Game Cube and listening to pop punk bands
There's pizza boxes stacked in the living room
No mops, no brooms, and no vacuums
Open the fridge and you might see
Half a Mr. Pibb and some moldy cheese
Upstairs the toilet barely works
That's just one of the many perks
Last time it took me half an hour
To figure out how to work his upstairs shower

His house makes me think about
All the things in life you can live without
LIke Internet, pens, tables and chairs
There's mail stacked randomly on the stairs
The bathroom door's falling off
I went to the attic and started to cough
But every time a tour rolls by, you know we'll stay at Laurel Drive

John Thatcher Longley - clean up your house
John Thatcher Longley - clean up your house
John Thatcher Longley - clean up your house
John Thatcher Longley - clean up your house

Lars: I mean, does it make you mad at all?
JTL: No, no, I think it's hilarious.
Lars: Alright cool, I just wanted to make sure it was cool.

My drummer has a messy house,
and that is what this song's about.

This new CD from Metro, “America In My Head,” was originally titled "The Future Imperfect" and was released only in Germany until now as an exclusive to CoolCDs.com. The CD features 2 singles including Gemini and America In My Head which became a bit of an underground hit.

Metro debuted in 1976 with their self-titled album which was distributed in the U.S. by Sire Records in 1977. They briefly changed their name to Public Zone and released a single with the Police’s Stewart Copeland on drums. Copeland was asked to become a permanent member of the band, but he decided to remain with the Police. Peter Godwin provides his signature vocals. After Metro recorded “New Love” in 1979 and “Future Imperfect” a year later, they broke up. Peter Godwin went on to reach new heights of success with his hits "Images of Heaven" and "Baby's In The Mountains" (available on "Images of Heaven - The Best of Peter Godwin").

NAKED EYES BIO

“In my first two videos I wore pajamas, so this title should come as no surprise,” Naked Eyes front man Pete Byrne says of “Fumbling With The Covers,” the band’s long awaited third studio album. “I wanted to record songs from some of my favourite artists, but lesser known songs, not the big hits everyone knows.”
In the early days while still performing in the pubs of Bath, England, Byrne, as one half of the synth-pop-pioneers Naked Eyes, along with bandmate Rob Fisher, shared a love for the music of Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. “It was around 1980 that Rob and I formed a band called Neon, that would later include Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal,” says Byrne. “We recorded a few songs, but the band fizzled, and Roland and Curt went on to form Tears For Fears, while Rob and I created Naked Eyes.”

Almost immediately, the band signed to EMI and began recording at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. “… I’ve always loved the songs from the great girl singers of the sixties, and one day in the studio we decided to do a cover of one of them; it could easily have been a Dusty Springfield song or a Cilla Black tune, but as fate would have it, we settled on a Sandie Shaw song.” That song, was the Burt Bacharach/Hal David tune “Always Something There To Remind Me,” which immediately exploded into the Top Ten…..followed by the self-penned “Promises, Promises” and “When The Lights Go Out.” The back to back to back hits resulted in massive U.S. radio airplay and an almost constant presence on MTV

(even if it was in pajamas.)

Although the band was expecting to tour, the label wanted a follow-up, so Byrne and Fisher went into the studio to record “Fuel for the Fire” which produced the hit single “(What) In The Name of Love.” Soon enough, the duo was asked to begin work on yet another release, but, rather than continuing what was becoming a never-ending cycle, Byrne and Fisher decided to walk away and leave Naked Eyes as a project to be continued…

The next few years saw both Byrne and Fisher involved in a number of various activities. Fisher teamed up with vocalist Simon Climie on a couple of albums, one of which which spawned the hit single “Love Changes (Everything).” Meanwhile, Byrne collaborated with a number of artists including Stevie Wonder (providing vocals on the #1 single “Part-Time Lover”) and also wrote and produced a number of songs for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen among others.

By 1999, Byrne and Fisher decided to pick up where Naked Eyes had left off and started work on a third album. Sadly, it was tragically interrupted when Fisher passed away from complications of surgery that summer.

Left to carry on solo, Byrne decided that the best course of action was to start where it had all begun all those years ago back in Bath. “I had the title, I went out and got a guitar, then with guitar and title in hand, went looking for the songs that inspired me to be in a band in the first place." That brings us to where we are at today, you’ll be able to experience “Fumbling With The Covers,” a ten-song collection that has really been the result of a very long and unpredictable journey...

Kurt Baker on Got It Covered

1. Let Me Out
The Knack are the quintessential Power Pop band, everything down to the black skinny ties and Beatle boots. "Get the Knack" belongs in every music fans record collection, and was one of the first Power Pop records I ever bought. "Let Me Out" is a burst of pure adrenaline and I couldn't think of a better track to start of the album. My performance and version reminds me of the work that I did on the Leftovers album "On the Move", which I'm really psyched about. On a funny side note, rumor has it that the Knacks singer/songwriter Doug Fieger wrote songs exclusively from the perspective of his "Schlong", which makes perfect sense if you go back and read the lyrics to songs like "My Sharona" and "Let Me Out". Doug Fieger died shortly before we recorded our version, so this is dedicated to him.

2. Hanging On The Telephone
Many people know this song as recorded by the beautiful Debbie Harry and Blondie, but in fact the original was written by Jack Lee, who played in the legendary LA punk/pop group The Nerves. Along with Lee, the other members included Paul Collins and Peter Case. Both members would go on to front bands like The (Paul Collins) Beat and The Plimsouls.. both staples in late 70's Power Pop. My version stays pretty true to the original, but it also reminds me of a great Swedish rock n' roll band called the Hellacopters. I saw them once in Boston and it totally blew my mind.. actually, they were probably the greatest band i've ever seen live. Speaking of Boston, Kay Hanley from the legendary Boston group Letters to Cleo, sang back ups on this! She is awesome! The intro sound clip is taken from Linus's voice mail on his phone. He's got a fancy phone... my phone doesn't even have a voicemail option, it's that old!

3. Pump It Up
When Linus and I got together to discuss "Got It Covered", one of the songs that we really wanted to model some of our work on was a track called "Bandages" by Hot Hot Heat. I remember always hearing that song in High School and thinking how ridiculously catchy it was, yet wild and spastic sounding. Elvis Costello is the king of making music that can be described at times as "Organized Chaos", so on this track we really tried to channel something along the lines of musical spontaneous combustion. Our "Pump It Up" comes off as a wild party anthem, and I love wild parties... esp. if there is beer and snacks involved!

4. I've Done Everything For You
Rick Springfield is the man. You cannot deny his awesomeness. When The Leftovers were working on our record "Eager to Please", Rick had just released a new single called "Victoria's Secret". We all had a laugh about it, but Linus and I quickly switched the subject to how much we love Springfield's "Working Class Dog" album. It's pure 80's pop at it's best. During the recording of this song we found out that he was actually playing the entire "Working Class Dog" album in its entirety in Milwaukee, Wisconsin ( home to Beer & Cheese, two favorites of Linus and myself). We almost cancelled the session and boarded the plane but then Kay Hanely stopped by to record some killer back ups and we ended up just going to Mel's diner in Hollywood were we drank many Budweisers and got in fights with dorky LA douche bags who claim Taylor Swift doesn't write her own songs.. (She does by the way, and is kinda hot).

5. Is She Really Going Out With Him?
In a way, this song is kind of autobiographical. I spend a lot of time in coffee shops in my home town of Portland, Maine, usually drinking coffee and looking out the window and seeing all these beautiful girls walking with a bunch of meat head college guys. This might happen everywhere. "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" is a hopeless romantics lament and I've always loved the way that Joe Jackson comes off as your "average guy" songwriter. I've always felt a connection to his lyrics, and at the same time loved his infectious melodies. This was the first song we recorded during the session, it just came naturally!

6. Cruel To Be Kind
I'm a VH1 classics junkie. I really don't like cable TV very much. I don't even have cable were I live, but whenever I get a chance to eat dinner at my parents house, you can bet your fortunes that I'll be sitting on the couch watching Metal Mania or Pop Up Video rather than eating a pot roast. I've always seen Nick Lowe's video for "Cruel To Be Kind" on VH1. It's always stuck with me, and the chorus is just so infectious. This might be one of my favorite songs on the album. Ironically, Kay Hanley (my producer Linus of Hollywood has a band with Kay called Palmdale), who sang back ups on this record also did a stellar version of "Cruel" for the hit teen movie "10 Things I Hate About You" with Letters to Cleo. This one is for Heath.

7. Turning Japanese
The Vapors are total 1 hit wonders, and there is nothing wrong with that! Take a tune like "Turning Japanese", a new wave classic that transcends generations. You can't help but feel good when you hear this song. Growing up I always would buy old Beatles or Beach Boys albums, but the first "New Wave" record I ever bought was "New Clear Days" by the Vapors, which features "Turning Japanese". It was probably the best 75 cents I've ever spent (besides that Milky Way I just purchased at the gas station). This was the last song we recorded during the "Got It Covered" sessions, and totally represents how much fun we had making this album.

THE LEFTOVERS’ KURT BAKER HAS GOT IT COVERED
WITH SOLO DEBUT FOR OGLIO RECORDS
FIRST SINGLE IS HANGING ON THE TELEPHONE

Los Angeles, CA - (August 1, 2010) Kurt Baker from The Leftovers embarks on a solo career with his new release, Got It Covered, for Oglio Records, a Fontana/Universal distributed label. Got It Covered was produced by Los Angeles based pop genius Linus of Hollywood and features guest appearances from Kay Hanley of Palmdale and Adam Marcello. For his debut release, Kurt takes on some of his favorite Power Pop songs of the 70’s and 80’s covering tracks from Blondie, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, The Knack, Nick Lowe, Rick Springfield, and The Vapors.

The first single from the Got It Covered EP is “Hanging On The Telephone”, originally by The Nerves and later covered by Blondie. The video was directed by Reginald Groff for Groff DRTV Productions and edited by Richard Pelletier.

Kurt Baker is a singer, songwriter and rock n’ roll performer from Portland, Maine, who is a founding member of the notable pop/punk outfit The Leftovers. They formed in 2002, have toured all over North America and Europe, and released many acclaimed records including Eager To Please for Crappy Records/Oglio which featured the single “Telephone Operator”. Kurt’s signature unique blend of ultra catchy Beach Boys and Beatles styled melodies under a relentless wall of high energy guitars and pounding rhythms have earned him the praise of Lookout Records’ Larry Livermore, Screeching Weasel’s Ben Weasel and Bowling For Soup’s Jaret Reddick. Kurt’s solo tour will kick off in Portland and will return to Spain in the fall of 2010.

“There are a couple of things I pride myself in, buy first is my ability to spot raw talent. The first time I met the Leftovers - goofy teens from Maine who drove ten hours just to play a free party in Queens - I knew they were the real thing. Kurt Baker's got an ear for pop melody that only comes along a few times in a generation, and a true love for the minutiae and history of rock 'n' roll. I can't wait to hear what he comes up with next.” - Jim Testa, Jersey Beat

LYRICS
Let Me Out
Let me out
Come and get me out
Cause I've been stuck in for too long
Let me out out
Come get me out baby maybe be where I belong
The time is right for stepping out in the light
My cup is full and I'll be pulling the wool tonight

Let me out
Come get me out you know that She don't understand
Let me out out
Come get me out baby I'm just living for the band
It's getting tighter and I'm feeling the bite
But I don't care because I'm getting my share tonight
Tonight tonight tonight

Let me out
Come get me out I'm just a prisoner of your love
Let me out out
Come get me out baby i will never have enough
I guess I'm getting while the getting is right
She may be faking
But I'm taking my chance tonight

Hanging On The Telephone
I'm in the phone booth, it's the one across the hall
If you don't answer, I'll just ring it off the wall
I know he's there, but I just had to call
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

I heard your mother now she's going out the door
Did she go to work or just go to the store
All those things she said, I told you to ignore
Oh why can't we talk again
Oh why can't we talk again
Oh why can't we talk again
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

It's good to hear your voice, you know it's been so long
If I don't get your call then everything goes wrong
I want to tell you something you've known all along
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

I had to interrupt and stop this conversation
Your voice across the line gives me a strange sensation
I'd like to talk when I can show you my affection
Oh I can't control myself
Oh I can't control myself
Oh I can't control myself
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

Hang up and run to me
Whoah, hang up and run to me
Whoah, hang up and run to me
Whoah, hang up and run to me
Whoah oh oh oh run to me

Pump It Up
I've been on tenterhooks
ending in dirty looks,
listening to the Muzak,
thinking 'bout this 'n' that
She said that's that
I don't wanna chitter-chat
Turn it down a little bit
or turn it down flat
Pump it up when you don't really need it
Pump it up until you can feel it

Down in the pleasure center
hell bent or heaven sent
listen to the propaganda
listen to the latest slander
There's nothing underhand
that she wouldn't understand

Pump it up until you can feel it
Pump it up when you don't really need it

She's been a bad girl
She's like a chemical
Though you try to stop it
she's like a narcotic
You wanna torture her
You wanna talk to her
All the things you bought for her
putting up your temperature

Pump it up until you can feel it
Pump it up when you don't really need it

Out in the fashion show
down in the bargain bin
you put your passion out
under the pressure pin
Fall into submission
hit-and-run transmission
No use wishing now for any other sin

Pump it up until you can feel it
Pump it up when you don't really need it

I’ve Done Everything For You
This one way love affair ain't fair, it ain't fair to me
It's all give and take and you just take
I can't take it you see
Well, I'm givin' up on love this time
Me and my friends, we'll do just fine

I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me

You said someday I'd have a whole lotta money,
I'd be a millionaire
But when that didn't happen over night
I found out how much you really cared
Well, all you want is a whole lotta money
All the rest is just jivin' honey

I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me

When I first met you, you didn't know how to love a man
All those things about makin' love you didn't understand
Now you know about everything
I'm turning you in for memories - you see

I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me

Well, I'm going out on the town tonight
And get just as wild as I can be
I'm gonna find out what it's like to be lose, high and free
Well, I don't care what that the people say
I'm changin' my mind, I'm changin' to stay

I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me
You've done nothing for me
You've done nothing...
You've done nothing...
You've done nothing for me

Is She Really Going Out With Him
Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street
From my window I'm staring while my coffee grows cold
Look over there! (Where?)
There's a lady that I used to know
She's married now, or engaged, or something, so I am told

Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
'Cause if my eyes don't deceive me,
There's something going wrong around here

Tonight's the night when I go to all the parties down my street.
I wash my hair and I kid myself I look real smooth
Look over there! (Where?)
Here comes Jeanie with her new boyfriend
They say that looks don't count for much
If so, there goes your proof

Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
'Cause if my eyes don't deceive me,
There's something going wrong around here

But if looks could kill
There's a man there who's more down as dead.
Cause I've had my fill
Listen you, take your hands off her head
I get so mean around this scene

Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
'Cause if my eyes don't deceive me
There's something going wrong around here

Cruel To Be Kind
Oh, I can't take another heartache
Though you say oh my friend, I'm at my wit's end
You say your love is bonafide, but that don't coincide

With the things that you do and when I ask you to be nice
You say you've got to be...

Cruel to be kind in the right measure
Cruel to be kind it's a very good sign
Cruel to be kind means that I love you
Baby, got to be cruel, you got to be cruel to be kind

Well I do my best to understand dear
But you still mystify and I want to know why
I pick myself up off the ground to have you knock me back down
Again and again and when I ask you to explain
You say, you've got to be...

Turning Japanese
I've got your picture, of me and you
You wrote "I love you", I wrote "me too"
I sit there staring and there's nothing else to do
Oh it's in color, your hair is brown
Your eyes are hazel, and soft as clouds
I like to kiss you when there's no one else around

I've got your picture, I've got your picture
I'd like a million of you all to myself
I want a doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning oh I'm turning yeah I'm turning
now I'm turning that
I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

I've got your picture, I've got your picture
I'd like a million of you all to myself
I want a doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning yeah I'm turning
oh I'm turning ah I'm turning yeah
I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women
No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark
Everyone around me is a total stranger
Everyone avoids me like a Cyclone Ranger
Everyone
That's why I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so
I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so
Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so

Kim Fox – Return To Planet Earth

After her highly acclaimed debut release Moon Hut on DreamWorks records, Kim Fox returns with her latest album Return To Planet Earth. Produced by artist/songwriter/producer Linus of Hollywood (Puff Daddy, OPM, Size 14), Return To Planet Earth retains the orchestral pop whimsy of Moon Hut while exhibiting a more mature emotional and nostalgic introspection. Songs such as "Baby, I Want You Back", "I’ve Got Music" and "Love X 10" exhibit a self-mocking loneliness produced with driving dance beats and electronic lushness. Songs such as "Feel Like Crying", "Tread This World So Lightly" and "Lazy" harken back to the classic melodies of Burt Bacharach and Hank Williams.
